Dear Fellow Members of Beth Shalom,
This is an exciting time for Beth Shalom. We have just completed one of the largest Bnei Mitzvah classes in Beth Shalom history; we have increasing participation in our Religious School; we now have two very active youth groups; our Havarah programs are getting started; Tanakh talks has never seen better participation and our special events (ie 2nd Night Seder, Jewbilee) are so well attended that we have to turn members away as they reach capacity.
Wouldn’t it be nice if we could hold our some of these events/ religious celebrations in our own building?? Wouldn’t it be nice if some of the money we spend to hold these events outside of Beth Shalom could be saved and re-invested in Beth Shalom??
For the last couple of years, Greg Bennett has been leading a group of members in developing a Building Expansion plan. You saw some of the conceptual drawings during last year’s High Holiday services during my speech. With the cost of construction at historic lows, we can now take that next step to build that permanent Sanctuary, to increase the number of Classrooms, to build a Youth Lounge, to enlarge our Social Hall, Improve our Kitchen facility, and improve our Grounds that we will all be proud of…
However, like any good plan, it needs the support of all it participants. This is not a small undertaking but a well thought out plan. I will be supporting Beth Shalom with my contribution to this plan and I encourage you to take a look at our goals and needs. I hope you will want to support it as well.
When we joined Beth Shalom over 15 years ago, our goal was to get our son through his Bar Mitzvah, but the friendships and the bonds that we have established have kept us coming back ten years after his Bar Mitzvah. I hope you feel the same way and will want to support this expansion. With your help, Beth Shalom will continue to support our members and the Jewish Community…
